The challenge
Vodafone wanted a tool that would help families set their own house rules around tech — screen time, online kindness, social media, gaming — and end with something tangible: a signed, downloadable pledge. The catch was the technical brief: it had to work entirely in the browser, generating a PDF (and optionally taking a photo) with no backend at all, so it could be dropped into a campaign page without touching a family's personal answers on a server.
What we built
An interactive family activity that adapts to who's taking part — different question sets for adults and children, and by age range for kids. It mixes quizzes, tip cards, and expert quotes rather than reading like a form, then compiles everyone's answers into a personalized PDF pledge at the end.
- Fully client-side — no family data ever touches a server
- Separate question flows per family member's age and role
- True/false and multiple-choice quizzes, tips, and expert quotes
- Optional in-browser photo capture, personalized into the pledge
- Generates a personalized PDF entirely in the browser
- Packaged as a module Vodafone could embed directly into their page
Feature spotlight: no backend, no compromise
Generating a PDF from user input and photos is trivial with a server. Doing it entirely client-side — for a tool aimed at families answering questions about their kids — was the actual engineering challenge, and the point: nothing a family types or photographs ever leaves their browser.
